Wilodge Poshspice fetched 250,000 guineas at auction, which is more than the average house price in the UK and the cost of a Lamborghini Aventador or Ferrari 812.
The figure sets a world-record price for a Limousin heifer, smashing the previous 125,000 guineas (£131,250) paid in 2014 for Glenrock Illusion.
The figure is also believed to be the highest amount ever paid for a cow in the UK and across Europe for any breed.

One-year-old Poshspice, born in November, 2019, was owned by Christine Williams and Paul Tippets, of Lodge Hill Farm, in Shifnal, Shropshire.
She was set for stardom as the daughter of Ginger Spice - a supreme champion at the Balmoral show which won the contest three times in a row.
The 'stylish and shapely' bovine was said to have caught the attention of many bidders who attended the auction in Carlisle, Cumbria, for her 'genetic qualities'.
She was more sought after due to her characteristics of larger loin depth, reduced-fat cover and also greater meat tenderness.
Poshspice was snapped up by two cattle breeders at the sale held by Borderway Mart Auctioneers on January 29.
Messrs Jenkinson, of Penrith, Cumbria, and Boden and Davies, of Stockport, Greater Manchester, will now share the maiden heifer.

Christine, 57, a full-time pedigree livestock farmer, said: 'It was a totally mind-blowing and surreal moment when we saw how much she had sold for.
'We never ever expected her to make that much in our wildest dreams. We are overwhelmed and equally delighted to have achieved this fantastic result.'We were not expecting her to go for anywhere near that amount of money. We just thought she would be on par with our other animals in the auction.
'Other people have called us afterwards and we have just been overwhelmed by all the messages and cards and the texts we have received congratulating us.
'The previous record-holder was sold for 125,000gns so Poshspice sold for far more.

'We did know the people who brought her but hadn't spoken to them before it happened.
'With pedigree cattle you always try to name the females and link them to the dam line.
'So her mum was called Gingerspice so it was just an apt name for her and she was a good calf when she was born with a lot of potential.
'She wasn't moody or anything like that - we just try to link the females to the mother.
'I did suddenly think on the way down from the sale I hope Posh Spice's name isn't copyrighted or anything.

'I have been farming ever since I left school at the age of 16 and it was just nice in these uncertain times.
'It gave a lot of people some positivity and a boost for the farming community.'
The auction was attended by new and established breeders from around the UK saw an entire crop of maiden heifers that had been used for pedigree breeding put up for sale.
It also saw other heifers - a cow which has not had any calves - selling for 25,000gns, 20,000gns and 17,000gns.
The British Limousin Cattle Society Breed Secretary Will Ketley said: 'The society is delighted to offer its congratulations to the team at Wilodge for this incredible iconic achievement that marks a wealth of breeding over the decades.
'I would also like to thank all the buyers that made this sale a fantastic success for not only the breeders but the breed itself.
'It is not just the record-breaker worthy of note, the sale was truly a success from start to finish for both Wilodge and Brockhurst alike achieving both clearance and strong averages.
'I wish all the successful purchaser's good luck and look forward to seeing these bloodlines continue to flourish.'
