Mike Bowers from California who specialises in such rocks said the object was recovered in November 2020 and due to its rarity could be worth as much as $10,000.

Mr Bowers said: 'I think this is probably the most perfect Cookie Monster out there. I have seen others but here you have it complete (both sides) Lucas Fassari is actually the one who found it.'This is very unusual! There are a few famous agates out there: the owl, the scared face... there are many approximate ones but rare to find clear well defined like that.

'Prices can be very high. I was proposed over $10,000 by 5 different buyers . Rare.'

Mr Bowers uploaded a video featuring his newly acquired rock along with a soundtrack taken from Sesame Street where Cookie Monster signs about the letter C.

According to Britannia.com, agate is is a 'semiprecious silica mineral' and is a type of quartz.

It can be found across the globe in areas with ancient lava which has settled in a cavity.

The hard outer layer of rock is then penetrated by liquid, often silica which makes its way inside the existing rock and solidifies in different layers.

These layers are what provides the interesting patterns within the agate.

The stones have been uses as ornaments going back to the time of the Ancient Greek.
