    1. Vacuum your mattress and keep your linen fresh

The first thing Chantel said you need to do is vacuum your mattress and change your bed linen.

It's a good idea to get into the habit of vacuuming your mattress at least once per month, as this will help to get rid of any dirt and grime hiding underneath.

Chantel said you should also be changing all of your bed linen regularly to keep your bed feeling 'fresh'.

'Don't forget to wash your pillows and doonas every three to six months too,' Chantel said.

The mum added that if you want to, you can also mix baking soda with your favourite essential oil in a glass container and then sprinkle the mixture over your mattress if you want.

    2. Anchor your aesthetic

The second thing to do is 'anchor your aesthetic'.

'Using your bed as a focal point, anchor your aesthetic,' Chantel said.

This may mean investing in some cushions and a throw to add a centrepiece to your bedroom, which you can then build out from when buying other furniture and decorative items.

'Neutral colours make for a relaxing environment,' Chantel added.

    4. De-clutter your bedside
