Joe, who filmed the footage, said: 'My sister hired a band to play for the whole neighbourhood.

'She hired them to cheer up the neighbourhood and also raise some money for the local food bank - they made over £150!'

Footage shows the band maintaining social distance as they spread out along Station Road on December 12, while they played the classic track from The Pogues.

Despite being called the New York Brass Band, the players hail from the North Yorkshire city, which is currently under Tier Two coronavirus restrictions.

The New Orleans-inspired band has played at events across the UK and Europe, including Glastonbury Festival.

Fairytale of New York, featuring Kirsty MacColl on vocals opposite Shane McGowan, made it to number 2 in the Christmas charts in 1987. It has entered the top 20 17 times since its release.

Gideon Wagner, who witnessed Sunday's performance, told MailOnline: 'It was absolutely brilliant. They were excellent.'
