  • Melissa was at first over-joyed at the £30 bargain before she realised the mistake
  • Despite crossed wires, her boyfriend was soon hailed a 'hero' on social media

A woman who entrusted her boyfriend to buy furniture for their new flat was left furious after a sofa he ordered turned out to be for a doll's house.

Melissa thought her partner Kieran had bagged the deal of the century when he found the L-shaped design on Argos while she was busy working night shifts.

She shared a photo of the couch with her friend Priya, a doctor from the Midlands who now lives in Wales. Stunned by its cheap price, Priya looked it up online - and then broke the bad news by sending her a link to the toy.

The hilarious mix-up was shared by Priya on Twitter, with accompanying screenshots of their text exchange.

Melissa messaged her friend to share progress on her home renovations as she said: 'Getting furniture slowly... Kieran bought a sofa from Argos for £30!!!'
But all was not as it seemed as her friend shared a link and delicately wrote: 'Mel, you do know that's for a doll don't you? It's for a kid's doll's house'

She captioned it: 'When people ask me why I don’t want to be in a relationship - I will now be using this conversation with a friend as part of my case...'.

An exasperated Melissa promptly replied: 'I've been on nights. I'm gonna kill him.'
