Creature discomfort! Modern taxidermist reveals his VERY bizarre 'Animalgamations' including a mouse and rabbit USB stick

  • Models are made from different body parts of dead animals and other materials

A businessman is fulfilling his bizarre passion for stuffed creatures by creating 'bad taxidermy' models using random body parts from different animals.

Jack Devaney, 26, creates his figures and creatures using both dead animal parts and a selection of other materials.

In the modern age, Jack doesn't believe that traditional taxidermy has much of a place in the world because of how easy it is to search on the internet to see what animals look like

In response to this he launched his business The World Around Ewe, which sells unique products including his 'Animalgamations'.

Speaking about his creations, Jack said: 'Recently I've put together rat, an old bit of antique mink, ducklings, hamsters and rabbit ears to create 'Bad Dog'.'

'Another of his creations are 'Rat People' which are half a rat and half an action figure.'

To create his models, Jack purchases dead animals from pet shops who use them to feed snakes.

He then defrosts and skins them to use the parts for his models, which he claims has never been done before.

He first started putting together his strange models after being given a summer project during his second year of university, where he was tasked with showcasing some transferable skills from his life before education.

He said: 'I had worked in a butchers shop in Cheshire from around the age of 13, initially as a Saturday lad, then as I got older I was taught knife skills and general butchery.

'I didn't have much else in the way of transferable skills that I was aware of, in a way it was kind of a fluke that I did taxidermy at all.'

He initially came across attempts at taxidermy on eBay which inspired him to have a go and soon he was creating models of a rat with googly eyes.

Jack said: 'A couple months down the line we're told to do a 'feasibility project' - the idea was come up with a business based on a previous project that we had enjoyed and prove it could be a business.

'That night I made my first rat pencil case with an anally inserted pencil sharpener. A staple of my business today - stationary stationery, if you like.'

Jack's business has only grown since then allowing him to flex his creative muscles.

He said: 'I do enjoy finding broken ornaments and replacing their missing parts with real animal parts. I call these 'Faunaments'.'

Jacks ideas come from trial and error with his variety of materials, or browsing shops for things he believes he could improve with some animal features.

However, Jack explains that his biggest inspiration comes from his desire to make people laugh, he said: ' I love when I get messages off of people that say its funny, or that it made their day. That's one of the best feelings ever.'

Some of his favourite recent works are his 'ReAmmonites' where he takes ammonite fossils and brings them to life using toes from chickens that he has turned into bobble heads.
