Heartwarming video reveals the incredible transformation of a rescue dog who was found stuck to the pavement and covered with TAR in India
A new PETA video has revealed the heartwarming transformation of a rescue dog who was found covered in tar in India.
The short clip explains how Champi was found stuck to the pavement and covered with coal tar and debris in Solapur by a rescue team from Animal Rahat ('rahat' means 'relief' in Hindi).
She desperately needed help and the first responders knew they had to act fast in a bid to save her life.
The rescue team who sedated Champi can be seen taking her to a safe place, before carefully rubbing the tar off using vegetable and coconut oil so as not to hurt her.

It goes on to explain that while Champi must have been so uncomfortable, she was so brave through it all.

After the ordeal, the heartwarming clip reveals her sweet and playful personality began to shine through, and when she was finally tar-free, one of her rescuers made her a part of his family.

As she's seen bounding through the fields, the clip tells how her fur has grown back and she spends her days playing with her animal friends, including some rescued chickens.
'This dog could have experienced a lonely, terrifying death, stuck in a tar-filled gutter, if it weren't for Animal Rahat's first responders' lifesaving action,' PETA Vice President Colleen O'Brien commented.
'PETA hopes this dog's happy ending inspires people everywhere to keep an eye out for animals in trouble and always come to their rescue.'
Animal Rahat is run by a dedicated staff that includes veterinarians, animal caretakers, and a community educator.
