Yobs launch 'nasty attack' on 'vulnerable' man as video shows them pouring beer on his head and 'pushing him into canal'

Footage of a 'nasty attack' on a 'vulnerable' man who was pushed into a canal has been condemned by police after it emerged online.

A shocking video filmed in Birmingham shows two men approach another man, who appears to be passed out next to a wall by the water.

It appears to show the attackers wake up their victim, pour a beer over his head and then push him into the canal.

West Midlands Police believe the incident, which has only just surfaced online, took place back in April. 

Sergeant Dale Quiney, of West Midlands Police, said: 'We're aware of footage on social media showing a man being pushed into a canal in Birmingham.

'While it has not been reported to us, we have identified the victim and will be making contact with him to get further details.

'Enquiries are on-going to identify the offenders.' 

The victim is first seen on the ground next to another man who is sitting on a brick wall.

They appear to be woken up by the passers-by who then seem to carry out and film the assault.

As the pair run away laughing, their victim can be heard calling out from the canal waters 

During the footage one of the alleged attackers says 'you all right, what you drinking? Come on bro, wake up', and then pours beer over his head.

The empty is thrown and the next image shows the victim in the water.
