Fans in shock as 'national treasure' Poh Ling Yeow is tearfully eliminated from MasterChef after disaster 'redemption dish' falls flat

Fans were left in shock when fan favourite Poh Ling Yeow was eliminated from MasterChef Australia: Back To Win on Sunday.
Her culurgiones with a half-parsley pasta and truffle, brown butter and lemon sauce failed to impress the judges.
Poh had called it a redemption dish - hoping to remake a recipe she had faltered at before, but struggled to decide what to make even half way through her cook.

Even going in to the judging, the 47-year-old realised that she had made a grave mistake.
'I'm just so frustrated with my own personality sometimes. Like, I just get really obsessive when I get things wrong.
'And it just really got to me that I did so badly with Phil's sauce. And I was like, "Oh, I can kill two birds with one stone".'

Poh was graceful in defeat, saying: 'It's been everything that I wanted it to be. I'm a risk taker, and that's what happened today, you know.

'I met my demise finally. But I've had such a fantastic time. It's just been such a joy to cook with these guys.
'And it's really humbling to be around them. It's been... it's just been such a fantastic experience. I've loved every moment.'
Callum Hann had a few kind words about Poh too, saying: 'I think when people around this country would think of the word MasterChef, you're probably the image that gets conjured up in their mind, for all the wonderful things we love about you.

While she was composed on stage, off stage, Poh broke down in tears: 'MasterChef really made me understand how important food needed to be in my life the first time, and it's done it again. I'm just really grateful,' she said, tears running down her face

'I think what Australia gets to see is Poh's incredible cooking skill, but what they might not necessarily see is what she's like as a person behind the scenes as well, which is pretty incredible, which is why I'm feeling quite emotional.'
