A cosmetic doctor has revaled the process behind extracting a lipoma from a patient's back, after the satsuma-sized cyst was seen protruding through the man's clothes.
Footage shows Dr Ross Perry, the medical director of Cosmedics skin clinics in London, known as The Exorcyst for his skills, queezing the fatty content out of the cyst on a man's back.
The fatty mass, which develops under the skin, can grow up to 2ins (5cm) or more, causing an unsightly lump, which unless removed, will continue to get bigger.
After the short procedure, the wound was closed with stitches in just 10 minutes, and Dr ross promised there would be little or no scarring.
'This one was situated on the man’s back and noticeable through clothes, therefore making the patient feel incredibly self-conscious.
'These type of cysts are very common but often people are too self-conscious to visit their GP, who can do very little, and therefore they then try all kinds of over-the-counter acne treatments to try and get rid, which make little or no difference at all.'

The sebaceous cysts are deemed 'cosmetic' due to their harmless nature and are not available for extraction on the NHS unless certain criteria is met.

WHAT IS A LIPOMA?

Lipomas are non-cancerous lumps caused by an overgrowth of fat cells.
They can form anywhere on the body, but are most common on the neck, shoulders, abdomen and back.
They are usually just under the skin, shaped like a dome and soft to touch.
They occur in about one in every 1,000 people in the US. and about one in 100 people in the UK.
Doctors are unsure of what causes lipomas, but believe it may be due to an inherited faulty gene or physical trauma.
Most do not cause any pain unless they are deep in the body and press on nerves or organs.
If a lipoma affects the bowels, it may cause constipation and nausea.
Most lipomas do not need removing, but surgery may be necessary if the growth is large, causing symptoms or unsightly.

Dr Perry also explained that while it's tempting to extract the cysts at home, there is a chance of infection and recurrence if the skin is not opened correctly and the sac is not removed.
He said: 'It is not a good idea to try and squeeze or pop these at home however tempting it is.
'The skin needs to be opened to allow the contents and the sac to be removed otherwise there is a risk of infection and recurrence.
'Also if you try and burst the cyst there is a likelihood the sac containing the smelly goo will seep out into the deeper layers of the skin and cause infection and scarring.'
'Many people may choose not have an extraction because the cyst can remain on the body without causing pain.
However, if it becomes infected, the cyst can cause irritation and will need to be extracted, with larger lipomas proving more difficult to remove.
The most common type are sebaceous or epidermal cysts that often start from ingrown hair or a blocked pore and are found anywhere on the body but typically occur in head and neck areas.
Dr Perry added: 'These have the smelly cheesy filling in the middle that is just build sebum and grease.
'They are common in men and women, and some people are more prone to them than others and there is no known reason or cause for this.'
