'Painful to watch': Surfer is smashed by massive waves as he tries to jump off the rocks into the ocean during wild weather - but refuses to give up

An amateur surfer was repeatedly smashed against the rocks and thrown from his board while trying to make the most of the monster waves on Australia's east coast.
Footage captured on Sydney's Northern Beaches show the surfer being pummelled by the waves while trying to enter the water from a rock ledge on Saturday.
The moment was caught on camera by Alexa Hohenberg who runs adventure website 'Still Stoked'.An amateur surfer was repeatedly smashed against the rocks and thrown from his board while trying to make the most of the monster waves on Australia's east coast

She shared the footage to social media, saying it wasn't long before it became a struggle to continue watching such a dangerous situation unfold.
'At first It was kind of funny to watch, but then so scary to see he obviously was a complete beginner,' she said.
'He was way out of his depth. Paying no attention to the ocean.'
'Stay within your skill set and your limits, especially when the waves are massive. It's not a time to learn.'

The person filming began by counted the number of times the person was knocked over, but their laughter quickly turned to dismay and concern.
'Do your dash now, you've got an opening, stop dawdling,' a male voice says.
'Run and jump. Don't climb down!' a female interjects as the surfer reaches the edge of the rock shelf.
'Oh dude you shouldn't be surfing, now I'm scared,' the male said.
Ms Hohenberg told Daily Mail Australia this particular rock shelf is 'not for beginners'.
'This is an advanced surf spot, it's not easy at the best of times. You have to time it, and run over the shelf and then know where to go,' she said.
'Here you have someone who didn't even have his eyes on the ocean.
'It was painful to watch.'

Sydney's coastline recorded swells of up to 10 metres over the weekend, as a result of a low pressure weather system bringing heavy rains and damaging winds.
The conditions were so rough world champion surfer Kelly Slater broke two surfboards on Friday at Avalon on the Northern Beaches.
'I took a few beatings, had to pay my dues,' he said.
'It's been a while since I surfed here.'
