Married teacher, 27, had an 11-month long affair with a Year 12 student and had sex with her at her home, in his car and on the beach - while telling his wife he was at the gym

  • A teacher has been barred from teaching for five years after affair with student
  • The 27-year-old teacher began the affair with the 17-year-old student in 2008
  • The pair would meet for sex in cars, at the beach, and at the girl's parents house
A married 27-year-old teacher had a nearly year long affair with a student in which the pair secretly met for sex in the man's car, at the beach, and at the girl's house.
The affair was only discovered eight years later after the former student, who had become a teacher, told a colleague.
The male teacher was suspended from his job in 2017 after the principal at the school he worked for was informed of the 2008 affair with the then 17-year-old.

The Queensland Civil and Administrative Tribunal was told the teacher slept in a swag next to the student at a school camp in 2007 when he began to flirt with her, reports The Courier Mail
In 2008, the teacher then sent the student multiple emails from a personal account.
The pair became physical when he arranged to meet the student at a beach one night and kissed her.
During their 11-month sexual relationship the teacher arranged to meet the girl for sex at her parents' house while they were at their day jobs on up to five occasions.
They also had sex in cars, at a hotel, and at the student's house one night when her parents had gone out.
The man even used his influence as a teacher to organise a day off school for the student in which they spent the day at a beach and had sex in the sand dunes.
When he was meeting the student, the man had told his wife he was going to the gym or was at a football game.
The affair began when the man was teaching classes the student was in and continued for months after she had left school.
In 2017, after he thought the teacher who was told about the affair was going to speak up, he confessed to his current principal and surrendered his teaching registration.
The tribunal found the man knew his conduct was wrong and took steps to ensure the affair was not discovered including using a personal email account and meeting the girl away from crowds.
The tribunal acknowledged the teacher expressed remorse and banned him from teaching for five years from when he surrendered his registration.
A psychological evaluation must also be completed before the man can reapply for registration showing he understands appropriate behaviour with students and professional and legal boundaries.
