Builder who spent two years working on dream family home is left devastated when Mercedes crashed into the wall weeks after he moved in and caused £100,000 in damage

A young man spent two years building his dream home only for a car to drive into its kitchen just a few weeks after his family moved in.
Jack Walther, 33, who runs a building company with his father, woke up to a car smashed into the side of his house after years of work and money spent building the family-home in Kettering, Northants.
The accident shifted the house by two centimetres with a crack going from the kitchen up to the top of the bedroom window and has caused £100,000 of damage.

The utility room has cracks in it, the back door is stiff to open, the plastic on the windows has cracked.

He had come to by the time the ambulance arrived when he was put on a stretcher and later arrested.
'I thought he was dead,' said Jack.
Astoundingly Jack and Katie's sons, two and five, were completely unstirred by the whole accident and did not wake up.
Jack said: 'Our little boys bed, Henry, is just above where the car impacted the wall.
'We didn't sleep for the rest of the night and every noise we heard, we kept getting up.
'It was all a bit of a blur'.

The builder had been working 12-hour days to finish his house and had only just finished painting the kitchen before the accident.
He said: 'I feel very angry about the situation.
'As time goes on, I'm getting more annoyed about it because I know how expensive it will be and how we will have to move out.
'We're not sleeping as well as we normally do.'
'It cost a lot to build and all of our energy and time went into it; it was a labour of love.
'The kitchen will have to be re-plastered, rewired and we need a whole new kitchen.
'This was our dream home, me and my father built it.

'One end of the house is liveable but we try not to use the kitchen.
'I don't know if the insurance will pay out for it; I don't know what's going to happen yet.
'It needs fixing.
'I'm only 33 and we've managed to build our own dream home and someone has wrecked it'.
