Ms Kleeman was relaxing at home when her daughter yelled to her that there was a struggling bird in the backyard.
The mother found the helpless tawny frogmouth flopping around and quickly wrapped her up in a blue towel.
Ms Kleeman sat down on the backyard deck with the bird nestled in her lap and realised the frogmouth was choking.
Ms Kleeman then used a pair of barbecue tongs to remove a poisonous cane toad that was lodged in the bird’s throat.
One of Ms Kleeman's children filmed her holding the bird and desperately trying to revive the owl.
She pointed to the cane toad lying on the deck and warned: 'Watch out for the thing I got out of its mouth.'
'That was in its beak for ages and we didn't know. We thought it was his insides and then I pulled it out with the tongs,' Ms Kleeman explained.
One of her children anxiously suggested Ms Kleeman give the frogmouth CPR.

The video showed how Ms Kleeman lifted the frogmouth up to her face and blew into her beak.
She swaddled the bird in the towel and began to administer chest compressions.
The rest of the family gathered around the bird and pleaded 'c'mon you can do it'.
Their cries of encouragement were heard and the bird opened her eyes.
Ms Kleeman dropped some water into the frogmouth's beak and gently continued to press on her chest.
She tenderly stroked its feathers and said: 'You can do it old mate, come good.'
The footage showed the frogmouth go in and out of consciousness before waking up and fluttering her wings.
Ms Kleeman eventually walked the frogmouth back to the garden and encouraged her to fly.
The family then took the bird to a vet and she was transferred to an animal sanctuary.
The frogmouth was released back into the wild a few days later.
