21 Vintage Photos Of The Construction Of The Iconic Eiffel Tower In 1887

The construction of the Eiffel Tower started on January 28, 1887. A little more than two years later, the iconic tower was finished in record time. It was considered by many as a veritable technical feat. On March 31, 1889, the tower opened to the public.
Today, the Eiffel Tower is one of the world’s most visited monuments, receiving about 7 million visitors a year. Below are some historical photos of the Eiffel Tower when it was still under construction.
