Orlando police stopped a man attempting to kidnap singer Lana Del Rey on Friday.
Michael Hunt, 43, of Riverview, Florida, was arrested by Orlando Police Department officers just feet away from the Amway Center where the singer (real name Elizabeth Grant) was playing a show Friday night. Hunt was in possession of a knife and tickets to a show but, according to police, was never able to make it inside the venue or in contact with the singer.
Police said they were alerted to posts on Hunt’s social media which indicated a “credible threat,” leading to his arrest. He is charged with aggravated stalking and attempted kidnapping with a weapon.
According to the Orlando Sentinel, Hunt wrote several Facebook posts stating his intent to kidnap Del Rey ahead of the Friday concert. On Tuesday, he wrote “I want to see my queen on Friday and from that day forward our decisions will be as one.”
Hunt is being held at Orange County jail on no bond.
Del Rey, currently touring in support of her 2017 album “Lust for Life,” is next scheduled to perform at the Philips Arena in Atlanta on Monday
