'He grew up gay anyway': Dave Chappelle DEFENDS Kevin Spacey in new Netflix comedy show and suggests actor Anthony Rapp, who was propositioned by the older actor aged 14, got himself in that situation

  • Chappelle takes aim at the #MeToo movement in Netflix's The Bird Revelation
  • Comedian discussed Anthony Rapp's claims that Kevin Spacey groped and tried to seduce him when he attended a party at his home when he was 14
  • Chappelle appeared to suggest that the incident was not that serious because Rapp 'grew up to be gay anyway'
  • 'And not to victim-blame, but it seems like the kind of situation that a gay 14-year-old kid would get himself into,' he said
  • Chappelle  then turned to allegations against comedian Louis C.K. who has admitted and apologized for forcing women to watch him masturbate
  • The 44-year-old, who denies knowing about the allegations against his friend,  said the sexual misconduct claims 'made me laugh'
  • He added that if the victims' careers suffered as claimed, it showed they had a 'brittle spirit' and wouldn't have survived in show business anyway

  • Dave Chappelle has made light of Anthony Rapp's claims he was molested by Kevin Spacey as a young teen during the comedian's new Netflix special, joking that the young actor 'grew up gay anyway.'
The controversial comic takes aim at the #MeToo movement in The Bird Revelation, released on Netflix on New Year's Eve, and the increasing number of high profile men in entertainment, the media and politics who have been accused of sexual misconduct in recent months.
'I mean it is really bad out here,' he said. 'Kevin Spacey's out here grabbing men by the p***y! I didn't even know that was possible!' said Chappelle, referring to the multiple claims that the House of Cards star groped and harassed young men.

Dave Chappelle has made light of Anthony Rapp's claims he was molested by Kevin Spacey as a young teen during the comedian's new Netflix special

Rapp, who plays Lieutenant Paul Stamets on Star Trek Discovery, was the first to accuse Spacey, claiming the star had groped him and tried to seduce him when he was just 14, after he attended a party at the Oscar winner's home.
'I've been to a lot of parties in my day. Never been to a good one that had 14-year-old boys in it,' Chapelle said, according to the Daily Beast, before he appeared to suggest that the incident was not that serious because Rapp 'grew up to be gay anyway.'
'Kevin Spacey sniffed that s*** out like a truffle pig,' he said, before pointing the finger to the victim himself.
'And not to victim-blame, but it seems like the kind of situation that a gay 14-year-old kid would get himself into,' Chappelle said, adding that gay teens are more mature than their straight classmates.

'All joking aside, Kevin Spacey shouldn't have done that s*** to that kid,' the comedian continued. 'He was 14 years old and forced to carry a grown man's secret for 30 years.
'The saddest part is, if he had been able to carry that secret for another six months, I would get to know how House of Cards ends,' he added, referring to the fact that Spacey was fired from the popular Netflix show after the allegations surfaced.
Chappelle, who is renowned for his edgy, controversial comedy, then turned to the allegations against his friend and fellow comedian Louis C.K. who has admitted and apologized for forcing women to watch him masturbate.
The Chapelle's Show star, who denies knowing about the allegations against his friend, appeared to find the sexual misconduct claims hilarious, laughing as he told his audience that they were the only allegations in the wake of the Harvey Weinstein sex scandal 'that made me laugh.'
Once again, he seemed to have little sympathy for the victims, such as Chicago comedy duo, Dana Min Goodman and Julia Wolov, who say Louis C.K. masturbated in front of them, against their will, in a hotel room.
When they tried to complain about his behavior, they heard Louis C.K.'s manager Dave Becky - a powerhouse executive in the world of comedy that represents Kevin Hart, Aziz Ansari and Amy Poehler, was unhappy they had been talking about it openly.
For years, they say their careers suffered as they felt they couldn't submit their work to Becky or his company, 3 Arts, which puts forward programming deals for nearly every platform. Becky insists that he 'never threatened anyone.'
Yet Chapelle jokes that if the victims' careers suffered as a result of the sexual misconduct, it showed they had a 'brittle spirit' and wouldn't have survived in show business anyway.
'To the female comedian who said that Louis C.K. masturbating in front of her ruined her comedy dreams,' Chappelle replied: 'Well then I dare say, madam, you may have never had a dream. C'mon man, that's a brittle spirit.'
'You think if Louis C.K. jerked off in front of Martin Luther King, he'd be like, 'I can't continue this movement?' he asks. 'How the hell are you going to survive in show business if this is an actual obstacle to your dreams?'
While he complained the allegations had damaged Louis C.K.'s career.
'It's terrible, I know it's terrible,' he said. 'Ladies, you are right. But at the same time, Jesus Christ, they took everything from Louis. I think it might be disproportionate. I can't tell. This is where it's hard to be a man.'
The 44-year-old stand up then said that, as a 'black dude,' he was 'held to a higher standard than these women.'
But now he has a daughter, he feels a little differently, hoping that they win the fight against sexual assault and harassment because 'if you win, she wins, and I'm rooting for you.'
