Any pet-owner will agree that a trip to the vets can be a painful experience for both the animal and the human, with most animals less than cooperative.

But as these hilarious photos prove, a visit to the animal hospital isn't all bad.

A new online gallery has seen pet owners share an array of snaps of their cats and dogs in various states of stupor following medication.

While one amused owner revealed their cat was 'high as a kite' after treatment, another dog owner shared a snap of their bleary-eyed Labrador. 

And while some appear sleepy other humans have snapped their four-legged friends looking completely wired as they try to adjust to their meds.
